The Peninsula Foodbank’s new warehouse is coming…

Governor of Virginia, the Honorable Bob McDonnell will be the Keynote Speaker

The Foodbank of the Virginia Peninsula has purchased 5.04 acres in Hampton’s Copeland Industrial Park. This property will become the much anticipated, new Foodbank. The 52,000 square foot warehouse will allow the Foodbank to quadruple the food storage capability. The facility will serve as the main office and distribution center. The location offers close proximity to the community partners that rely on the Foodbank. Last year the Foodbank distributed nearly 10 million pounds of food into the community.

The development team for the Foodbank consists of PMA Architecture, W.M. Jordan Company and Devon Commercial Construction. The Foodbank has retained the firm of PMA Architecture for design, construction documents and construction administration for the interior build out of the facility, which will be completed by W.M. Jordan Company.

The Foodbank is a charitable organization that solicits, receives, inventories, store and distributes donated food to charitable agencies that directly help the needy. The Foodbank offers education and services to clients of partnering agencies and manages several programs to address hunger on the Virginia Peninsula. Vital programs such as The Kids Café and The Back Pack Program are crucial to ensuring children in need within the local school systems are able to secure consistent meals.
